Depression and Hope for Healing

Carriage Towne News - 9/8/2016

KINGSTON -New Creation Healing Center, 80 Route 125, Kingston, is offering a free series on Healing of Depression on six consecutive Thursday evenings beginning September 22. The program runs from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Depression can steal our joy, break our hearts, impact those around us and even ruin our lives.

Depression has many roots which is why the "one size fits all" approaches do not always work. Depression can sometimes be relieved through medicine alone, or counseling alone, or even prayer alone. Often, however, as the causes of depression are manifold, the solution must be as well.

New Creation Healing Center takes a "whole person" approach to wellness, combining medicine, counseling, massage, and Christian spirituality. Well-trained, professionally licensed professionals from each discipline work together to help the whole person come into wholeness.

While it is not necessary for a person to attend every session, we hope you will, given how depression often needs a multi-faceted response. You can attend because you have a need of healing, or you can come learn things valuable to loved ones.

The first session (September 22) is entitled "Introduction to Depression: Causes and Treatments." It will give an overview of the subject of depression and outline the various responses to depression that will be taught about in the weeks following. Teaching this class is Dr. Mary Pearson, Chief Operating Officer of New Creation and well-known family practice physician.

Additional sessions will be led by Dr. Mary Pearson, by Licensed Mental Health Counselor Judy Howell, and by New Creation's Chief Operating Officer Dr. Mark Pearson. The last session (October 27) will put it all together with these three teachers serving as the panel, plus three people - from different walks of life - who had suffered depression and received healing. Without minimizing their former depression or treating their path to recovery as something quick and easy, they will share their stories about how depression can be helped, managed, relieved and for some people even cured.

While there is no cost to attend, we do need to know how to set up the room and how many handouts we need to print. We ask that those planning on attending would call the New Creation Healing Center office ahead of the September 22 meeting at 603-642-6700. You may call that number if you have any questions about the program.
