Fairview hosting Workplace Mental Health and Wellness presentation

Hometown Focus (Virginia, MN) - 4/15/2016

HIBBING ? Fairview Range will host speaker Glenna Gentile, MA, LMFT, for a noon lunch presentation on mental health issues in the workplace on Thursday, May 5, at Valentini's Supper Club in Chisholm. The event is free and open to employers and businesses; however, registration is required prior to April 28 by calling Fairview Range JobCare at 218-312- 3017.

No business, regardless of the size or location, is immune to the countless problems caused by mental health issues. Workplace stress is reportedly connected with a number of employee mental health issues, resulting in notable cost for employers due to productivity or work hours lost.

Gentile will discuss a general overview of the most common mental health issues that can be present in the workplace, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, ADHD, sleep disorders, suicide and thought disorders.

The event will also provide relevant resources for learning more about workplace mental health, recognizing symptoms, the types of treatments available, and the essentials of creating a better workplace environment.

Gentile is a licensed marriage and family therapist with 25 years of experience as a therapist in the areas of inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency. She is a Minnesota designated clinical supervisor for graduates seeking licensure and previously taught psychology at Hibbing Community College, Mesabi Range College and Arrowhead University. She also works with an employee health assistance program (EAP).
