RAMAPO RIDGE PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL EARNS THIRD STRAIGHT 'TOP PERFORMER' RECOGNITION

Franklin Lakes-Oakland Suburban News (NJ) - 1/7/2016

Christmas came early this year with a welcomed gift for Ramapo Ridge Psychiatric Hospital (RRPH) at Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyckoff. For the third consecutive year, RRPH was recently recognized by The Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures in Inpatient Psychiatric Hospitalization.

RRPH was recognized for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for inpatient psychiatric services.

This coveted distinction is awarded on a limited basis across the United States to only those hospitals achieving the highest level of outcomes with defined quality measures and related processes. In New Jersey, CHCC was one of only two psychiatric hospitals to receive the esteemed distinction.

RRPH was recognized with this distinction because of its high level of cumulative performance with The Joint Commission's reported accountability measures and core measures.

Moreover, the ability to have nearly no use of physical restraints or seclusion, along with strong results from hand-off communications about patients with subsequent providers, single use of antipsychotic medications, and a comprehensive admissions assessment process, were among those areas where those results earned the hospital this esteemed recognition.

"We understand that what matters most to patients at Ramapo Ridge is safe, effective care," said Cathy Pilone, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, vice president/administrator, Mental Health Services. "That's why Ramapo Ridge has made a commitment to accreditation and the positive patient outcomes through evidence-based care processes. Ramapo Ridge is proud to receive the distinction of being a Joint Commission Top Performer on Key Quality Measures."

"I am so proud of our physicians and staff in Ramapo Ridge, along with many supporting departments, for their dedication to excellence and fostering health, healing, and wellness for our patients," said Douglas A. Struyk, CPA, LNHA, CHCC president and CEO. "Our focus has always been about the patients and delivering top quality care to those seeking mental-health services."

RRPH is a 58-bed hospital offering inpatient care for adult and geriatric patients. An individual recovery plan is prepared for each patient by an interdisciplinary team.

Treatment includes medication, individual and group psychotherapy, education, therapeutic activities, family support and pastoral care.
