BRIEF: Mental health public forum Oct. 5

Sept. 28--NORMAL -- A public forum to update the community on the McLean County Mental Health Action Plan will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.Oct. 5 at the Illinois State University Alumni Center, 1101 N. Main St.

"Moving Forward with Community Mental Health -- What's Happening Now?" is sponsored by the Women to Women Giving Circle of the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation.

Presenters will be McLean County Board Vice Chairman John McIntyre and board member Susan Schafer, who are among authors of the action plan.

"We all need an understanding of what is going on with mental health in our community and how we can move forward," said Giving Circle Chairwoman Sharon Tarvin. "This is a great opportunity for us to hear where we are with the plan."

The mental health action plan was adopted by the county board several months ago.

The Giving Circle is a group of philanthropists who have awarded more than $150,000 in grants over five years, touching the lives of 3,000 Central Illinois women and children.
