BRIEF: Missing woman found hiding in ditch near Rice

Sept. 09--RICE -- Stearns County deputies found a woman early Wednesday morning who had gone missing near Rice, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Rebecca Ann Schneider, 46, left her daughter's residence at 43661-95th Ave. in Brockway Township. Schneider was reported missing Sunday night, according to authorities.

Deputies used dogs and a State Patrol helicopter to search for Schneider for three days without success.

The Sheriff's Office said she suffers from mental illness, including paranoia and depression.

Around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, deputies were patrolling the area where Schneider had last been seen. An officer found Schneider in a ditch along Benton County Road 78.

Schneider admitted she laid in the ditch when cars drove by in order to avoid being found, the Sheriff's Office said.

She was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for an evaluation.
