15 Chosen For 2015 Steinman Fellowships ; Recipients Are Pursuing Advanced Degrees In Mental Health Fields

Fifteen students pursuing advanced degrees in mental health fields have been selected as recipients of 2015 fellowships by The John Frederick Steinman Foundation.

The fellowships carry a value of $60,000 and are named for John F. Steinman, former publisher of LNP Media Group Inc. This is the 53rd year that fellowships have been granted for masters or doctoral level study in psychiatry, psychology and social work.

Six of the students were previous winners. They are:

- Jesse Main, 33, Lancaster, is working toward a Doctor of Psychology degree in clinical psychology at Immaculata University.

- Riannon Fisher, 24, Manheim, is working toward a master's degree in social work at Millersville University.

- Lori Walton, 36, Lancaster, is working toward a master's degree in social work at Temple University.

- Aleda Risser, 24, Lancaster, is working toward a master's degree in social work at Millersville University.

- Amanda Yost, 36, Manheim, is working toward a Master of Science degree in nursing at Drexel University.

- Jodi Good, 35, Lancaster, is working toward a master's degree in social work at Millersville University.

The new winners for 2015 are:

- Halle Feister, 24, Paradise, is working toward a Master of Arts degree in marriage and family therapy at Evangelical Theological Seminary. Feister received a bachelor's degree in human development and family science from Messiah College.

- Tyler Gehman, 23, Lancaster, is working toward a master's degree in social work at Millersville University. Gehman received a bachelor's degree in social work from Millersville University.

- Debra Jones, 48, Elizabethtown, is working toward a master's degree in social work at Temple University. Jones received a bachelor's degree in political science/pre-law from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

- Caitlin Landis, 24, Leola, is working toward a master's degree in social work at Temple University. Landis received a bachelor's degree in social work from Messiah College.

- Melanie Rankin, 37, Landisville, is working toward a master's degree in social work at Temple University. Rankin received a bachelor's degree in psychology and therapeutic recreation from Houghton College.

- Jessica Simeral, 24, Lititz, is working toward a master's degree in social work at Millersville University. Simeral received a bachelor's degree in nutrition from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

- Rachael Stamm, 24, Lancaster, is working toward a master's degree in social work at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Stamm received a bachelor's degree in social work from Millersville University.

- Joshua Strickler, 33, Lancaster, is working toward a Doctor of Psychology degree in clinical psychology at Immaculata University. Strickler received a bachelor's degree in social science and history from Thomas Edison State College and a master's degree in biblical counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary.

- Jessica Taylor, 30, Lancaster, is working toward a Doctor of Psychology degree in clinical psychology at Immaculata University. Taylor received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Sweet Briar College and a master's degree in clinical psychology from Millersville University.

Including the latest list of recipients, 345 students have received a total of $1,748,840 in study grants since the fellowship program was established in 1963.

In selecting grant recipients, preference is given to those who obligate themselves to practice their profession in a location serving residents of Lancaster County, for at least the number of years fellowship support is received.
