JANS - Jackie Chatmon of Hinds County has been named the Department of Mental Health's 2014 Employee of the Year.

Chatmon is a Program Administrator in the Division of Children and Youth, where she oversees the Mississippi Transitional Outreach Project and Project XPand, both programs focused on providing services to adolescents and young adults. She has been with DMH since 2007. She is a graduate of Jackson State University who worked in the behavioral health field prior to joining the Department of Mental Health.

"Jackie is one of the most dedicated employees I have ever come across," said Sandra Parks, Director of the Division of Children and Youth. "She is an excellent trainer, team leader and facilitator. I am very fortunate that she has chosen to share these talents."

Chatmon also facilitates trainings in several different programs, including: Suicide Alertness For Everyone (safeTALK), Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR), the Adult and Youth version of Mental Health First Aid, Trauma Informed Care and most recently, the California Brief Multicultural Competence Scale (CBMCS) Training.

"I am humbled by this recognition and very proud to be part of the DMH family," Jackie said. "Special thanks to my supervisor, Sandra Parks, and co-workers in our division. I will never take for granted the opportunities I have to make a difference in the lives of individuals in our state."
