BRIEF: Weld County mental health organization putting together group for Denver awareness walk

Feb. 20--The Weld County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is hosting a kickoff meeting next week in preparation for the upcoming 2015 NAMIWalk.

NAMI Weld County will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Ave. in Greeley, about putting a group together to walk May 16 in Denver.

The NAMIWalks are an effort to combat stigma and encourage understanding of mental illnesses in Colorado, according to a news release.

NAMI Weld County is dedicated to building better lives for Weld residents and their families who are affected by mental illnesses, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder and panic disorder, according to the release.
