BRIEF: Input sought on improving mental health care

Fergus Falls Daily Journal (MN) - 1/14/2015

Jan. 14--Area stakeholders are invited to discuss mental health services reform Thursday, Jan. 15, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. in Fergus Falls.

The round table is the final meeting of a series of listening sessions held across the state with individuals, advocacy groups, county representatives and providers to gather ideas for improving mental health services. Feedback from these meetings will help the Minnesota Department of Human Services in developing initiatives for the 2015 session of the Minnesota Legislature.

This meeting will examine the continuum of care in Minnesota, from prevention to early care, to treatment, and through recovery. While 1 in 4 adults and 1 in 5 children will experience a mental illness in a given year, between 70 and 90 percent of individuals who receive treatment for serious mental illness has a significant reduction of symptoms and improvement in their quality of life.

The round table will be held at the Otter Tail County Government Center, 520 Fir Ave. West, Fergus Falls.
