BRIEF: Va. Beach classes target those with mental illness, their families

Jan. 05--VIRGINIA BEACH -- The city's National Alliance for Mental Illness chapter is holding two free classes to help those living with mental illness and their families.

The first, aimed at family members and partners of those with serious mental illnesses, begins Jan. 28 and runs for 12 weeks. Called Family to Family, it is held at The Beacon House, 3808-C Virginia Beach Blvd., starting at 6:30 p.m., according to a news release. Peer to Peer, which focuses on how to live with a mental illness, begins Feb. 10. A team of two trained mentors who have experienced mental illness leads the classes. They run from 3 to 5 p.m. at Pembroke 3, Suite 140, for 10 weeks. Call Kathy Sievert at 785-8196 for more information.
