El Paso Times (TX) - 11/15/2014

Nov. 15--The El Paso branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness was named Texas affiliate of the year during the organization's annual conference last week, officials said Friday.

Local NAMI board president Richard Salcido and board member Clemencia Prieto received the award on behalf of the group on Nov. 8 at the state convention in Galveston. There are 24 NAMI affiliates in Texas.

The El Paso group was nominated for its community outreach work, including providing services and programs in both English and Spanish, officials said.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness helps people and families affected by mental illness. It is one of the nation's largest grassroots mental health organizations.
