BRIEF: Author to speak at Newman on mental illness awareness

Oct. 03--Bill MacPhee, a Canadian author who has written on his struggles with schizophrenia, will speak Sunday night at Newman University'sDugan Gorges Conference Center.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is being held to kick off Mental Illness Awareness Week. A reception will be from 6 to 7 p.m. MacPhee will speak during the program, which is from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill Wichita is sponsoring the event.
