BRIEF: Mental illness program aimed at caregivers

Herald-Times (Bloomington, IN) - 9/6/2014

Sept. 06--The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Greater Bloomington Area is accepting registration for Family-to-Family, an educational program intended for family caregivers of individuals with severe mental illnesses.

The classes will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on 12 Tuesdays from Sept. 16 through Dec. 9 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2120 N. Fee Lane in Bloomington.

"This program helps families to better understand what is going on with their loved one's brain," said Jill Bolte Taylor, a NAMI member.

The course balances skill training with emotional support, self-care and empowerment.

The course and materials are offered free of charge, but pre-registration is required no later than Thursday.

For more information or to pre-register for the class, contact Laura Jesseph at 812-333-0341 or at ljesseph@aol.com.
