MICRO-CHIP: Furever Home Adoption Center will host a low-cost microchip clinic from 1 - 4 p.m.Aug. 24 at That Fish Place/That Pet Place, 237 Centerville Road.

Cost is $15 per chip, cash only. No appointment is necessary.

All dogs must be leashed, and all cats must be in a carrier.

The event will also include a sale of homemade candy, baked goods and pet-themed gift baskets to benefit Furever Home Adoption Center.

nMENTAL HEALTH COURSE: The National Alliance on Mental Illness will sponsor the NAMI Family-to-Family (F2F) Educational Program specifically for families of people diagnosed with serious mental illness. The 12 sessions start Monday, Sept. 8, from 6:30 - 9 p.m. at Millersville University's McComsey Hall and run every Monday night until Nov. 24. Registrants are expected to commit to the 12- week schedule.

The course will discuss schizophrenia, mood disorders (bipolar disorder and major depression), panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder; coping skills such as handling crisis and relapse; medications; listening and communication techniques; problem- solving skills; recovery and rehabilitation; and self-care. The curriculum has been written by experienced family members and mental health professionals.

The F2F course is designed specifically for parents, siblings, spouses, partners, adult sons and daughters who are caregivers of persons with severe and persistent mental illness. The course is free, but limited to 20 people.

CAR AND MOTORCYCLE CRUISE: The public is invited to the seventh annual United Zion Retirement Community's "Car and Motorcycle Cruise" event, Wednesday, Aug. 27, 6 p.m. until dark.

This event is open to all vehicles and is free of charge.

Admission to show your vehicle is by a suggested minimum donation of $10. All proceeds will go to the UZRC Caring Fund. Dash plaques will be provided for the first 75 vehicles, and prizes will be awarded to show vehicles.

Cars of every kind, including antiques, classics, muscle cars, hot rods, motorcycles and special interest cars of all types and sizes are expected. Music from the 50's will be provided by Roses Entertainment.

Food from UZRC' 50's Diner including burgers, wraps and drinks, and the Miller Bros. Ice Cream truck will be available.

A "Dress in Your Best '50's Contest" will be held so poodle skirts and leather jackets are expected. Prizes will be award for the best- dressed.

nCRIME FORUM: The West Lampeter Township police department and Friends of the Force will present "Crime Prevention, Identify Theft Scams: A Public Forum" on Thursday, Aug. 28, at the West Lampeter Township municipal building, 852 Village Road, Lampeter.

Bill Hickey from the Lancaster Bureau of Police is guest speaker.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

nLUNCHEON: The Lancaster Christian Women's Club will host their next luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Bent Creek Country Club, 620 Bent Creek Drive, Lititz starting at noon.

Speaker Marilyn Johnson will present "Finding Your Way Through Fear, Stress and Disappointment," Vocalist Regi Woods, performer at Sight & Sound, will provide the entertainment.

Clothing store White House Black Market will present a fashion show of fall items.
