BRIEF: Mental health first aid for youth training opens to public

March 23--Horizons Mental Health Center will begin offering Mental Health First Aid for Youth training to the general Reno County community starting in May.

The 8-hour public education program introduces participants to the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and teaches individuals how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge, according to the agency. Horizons will be offer its first session for local residents May 6 and 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dillon Nature Center. Attendance at both training days is required for certification and continuing education.
