BRIEF: Mental Illness Peer-to-Peer Program Starting Soon

March 08--A National Alliance on a Mental Illness Peer-to-Peer program will be starting Wednesday, March 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Centralia.

The program includes 10 two-hour sessions. It will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays through May 21. It is designed for individuals 18 and over living with mental illness. The program is taught by a trained team of individuals living in recovery from mental illness. Included will be presentations, discussion and exercises.

Information offered will be:

--Up-to-date research on brain biology

--Mental illness symptoms and their relationship to personal experiences

--Personalized relapse prevention plan

--Tools to prepare for interactions with healh care providers

--Skills for making decisions and reducing stress
